Hello! I'm Brittan Winthrop. I still remember the joy of bringing home my first dog, a Huskie Malamute, when I was just 12 years old. That sparked my passion for canine companionship, leading me to take my first dog training class and eventually turning that passion into a fulfilling career as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA®) and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator.

Believing firmly in force-free methods and consent care, I've been professionally training dogs and teaching group classes since 2005. My philosophy is grounded in respect and understanding for our furry friends, prioritizing their comfort and happiness in the training process. From a Labrador struggling with leash manners to a nervous Chihuahua finding her confidence, I've witnessed the transformative power of positive reinforcement training.

As a dog owner myself, I share a special bond with my Belgian Sheepdog, Marcelline. Marcelline was quite fearful when she first joined our family. But with patience, love, and a gentle approach to desensitization and creating positive associations, she has blossomed into a brave and happy dog who now accompanies us fearlessly on our family adventures.

My hands-on experience extends beyond my personal pets. I've worked at Guide Dogs for the Blind and have volunteered at the Humane Association, experiences that enriched my understanding and skills in dog training. Whether you’re dealing with common issues like barking, jumping, and leash reactivity, or you need guidance with fear-related behaviors, I'm here to help.

I offer a range of services to suit your needs, including Board & Train, Family Style Boarding, In-Home Coaching, Walk & Train, and Adventure Walks. Each plan is carefully tailored to suit the individual needs of every dog and their family.

When I'm not training dogs or teaching classes, you'll find me active in the dog-showing community, showcasing conformation, agility, and rally obedience. My family and I relish in our time spent backpacking, kayaking, hiking in the Pacific Northwest, attending dog shows, and exploring Portland with our furry companions, including our two Pomeranians.

Ready to start your dog training journey? I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to request an evaluation, and let's explore how we can together bring out the best in your furry friend.
